EX-CELTIC star Moussa Dembele won't travel with Lyon for their Europa League clash against Rangers, according to reports.

The French forward is reportedly struggling with muscular discomfort and will instead remain at home while his team-mates jet out to Glasgow.

It's a boost for Rangers as the striker has been in electric form with four goals in his last three matches this season.

But the muscle problem will keep him from a return to Glasgow, and also looks likely to rule him out of the match with PSG at the weekend, French site Radio Scoop reports.

Lyon are also expected to be without Xherdan Shaqiri for the trip to Ibrox, as he is not fully vaccinated,  but will be boosted by three other key players allowed to travel.

Bruno Guimaraes, Tino Kadewere and Lucas Paqueta have been granted permission to travel to Scotland.

Guimaraes and Pacqueta from Brazil, and Kadeware from Zimbabwe have been cleared to fly to Glasgow for the match despite the countries being on the red list for quarantine.

A Scottish Government statement reported by the Daily Record reads: “After carefully considering the public health risk, we have agreed to allow the three Lyon players to travel to Scotland.

“International travel restrictions remain necessary to limit the importation of the virus and variants of concern. Red list countries pose the highest risk, which is why any exemptions have to be considered very carefully.”
