RANGERS star Ianis Hagi is set for a bumper £17million move to Roma in January, according to reports in his homeland.

The playmaker has been linked with a Serie A switch after reportedly impressing Jose Mourinho with his performances in a Rangers shirt.

PRO TV and Sport RO are both reporting that Hagi has agreed a move in the winter transfer window with a fee worth up to €20m reportedly on the cards.

Hagi has endured a stop-start season so far for the Ibrox club after missing games following a positive Covid test while on international duty.

But he does boast an impressive two goals and two assists in just seven games so far this term.

Hagi returned to action after his Covid lay-off period in Wednesday's win over Livingston in the Premier Sports Cup as he set up Kemar Roofe's opener.

The reports of interest from Roma shouldn't come as too much of a surprise after a Romanian agent revealed Mourinho had asked about the player.

Giovani Becali previously admitted interest from top clubs including Manchester City and Mourinho during his time at Tottenham: “I have been asked personally by Jose Mourinho and Txiki Begiristain about Ianis Hagi.

"They wanted to know about him and how he was getting on.

“So there’s a lot of top people in European football who know all about Ianis and what he can do."
