RANGERS defender Connor Goldson has been tipped to win an England call-up by a former Scotland favourite.

Braveheart - Colin Hendry - doesn't see why Goldson wouldn’t grasp his chance in the Three Lions’ backline.

Goldson has been a first-pick under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox, who brought him to the club from Brighton during his first transfer window in 2018.

He has scored 17 goals in 176 Gers games, and was a vital cog in last season's side to go unbeaten for the full Premiership campaign.

The defender's current deal expires atthe end of this season.

And at 28-years-old, Hendry believes Goldson would find the offer to play in the Premier League very tough to reject.

He told Bonus Finder: "There's a few centre halves in that England squad, Stones, Maguire, Mings and Coady, but I don't see why Goldson couldn't get an opportunity.

"It'll come down to consistency and that's the same for any defensive partnership at any team.

"If that triangle between the goalkeeper and the centre backs isn't right then it can be a struggle.

"From Goldson's point of view, the lure of being back in the Premier League might be too much to resist.

"That's the place to be for a footballer many will say, playing in the Premier League in England so it's a big decision for him to make.

"Does he go, or does he stay at a nostalgic club like Glasgow Rangers?

"It'll be a difficult one for him, but with a year left on his contract it'll be a decision he'll have to make."

He continued: "He's in the last year of his contract but at the age of 28 would he want to move back to the Premier League and in England?

"He might want to try and force his way into the England squad and would Gareth Southgate take note of what he's doing and his rise?

"The gauge for Southgate might be how Goldson does in Europe, but for me, the biggest game in the UK is Rangers versus Celtic.

"That's only my belief and Goldson has featured in many of those fixtures.

"I think if Goldson has his heart set on a move to the Premier League, then he'll see his contract out.

"But Rangers are a huge club and he's been here for quite a while, it'll all come down to how he's feeling about the situation."
