TEAM GB Olympian Robbie Fergusson has re-signed for Glasgow, and will begin what will be his third spell with the Warriors in January.

The centre, who helped Britain’s men to a fourth-place finish at the Sevens in Tokyo, made his initial debut for Glasgow in 2015. He moved on to London Scottish the following year, initially on loan, then became a regular in the Scotland Sevens squad before returning to Scotstoun at the start of last season.

His last appearance to date was in March, after which he left to begin preparations for the Olympics. Now 28, he will fulfil his commitments to the sevens programme before resuming as a full-time Warrior after the turn of the year.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to play for GB7s up until the New Year and then pivoting to focus all of my attention on Glasgow and hopefully trying to get myself back in a Warriors jersey,” Fergusson said. “I just want to play as much rugby as possible and this contract is going to allow me to do just that.

“I’m just buzzing to be back. I’ve not had the chance to play in front of the Scotstoun crowd in nearly seven years, and I’m looking forward to pushing for my place in the 23 and to run out in front of my friends and family at Scotstoun.”

Meanwhile, the order and dates of fixtures for this season’s Champions Cup have been announced. The Warriors, who already knew they would be playing home and away against old foes La Rochelle and Exeter Chiefs, now know that their campaign will begin with a visit to the French club on Sunday 12 December. They will then be at home to the Chiefs six days later, with the two return fixtures being held in January.

Like last season, the Champions Cup group stage consists of two pools of 12, with each club playing four matches. Glasgow,  the Chiefs and La Rochelle are in Pool A along with Northampton, Racing 92, Leinster, Bath, Clermont, Ulster, Montpellier, Ospreys and Sale. At the end of the four matches, the eight highest-placed teams in each pool will go through to the knockout stages, starting with a home-and-away round of 16. The subsequent rounds will be single-leg, with the final being held in Marseille on Saturday 28 May.
