Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has had his disciplinary hearing postponed indefinitely by the Scottish FA.

The 31-year-old was scheduled to appear before the governing body next Thursday accused of excessive misconduct, bringing the game into disrepute and ‘improper’ behaviour.

The on-loan Dundee player is also facing a police investigation after kicking a flare into the stand housing St Johnstone supporters during last month’s 2-0 defeat in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final.

The former Livingston and Hibernian marksman issued an apology following the incident, describing it as ‘regrettable’ and insisting ‘my intention was just to remove it from the pitch’.

The Scotland cap faces a possible lengthy ban if found guilty by the SFA disciplinary hearing but that case has been delayed pending the police probe.

Hampden officials now say the new date is ‘to be confirmed’.

A Dundee spokesman said: "The club has been informed that the date for the principal hearing, which was set for Thursday, 14 October, 2021, has now changed. The new date is TBC,"
