Joe Hart 6

Had to stay alert to deny Eldar Civic’s free-kick in the second half with the score at 1-0. Was confident in taking the ball in at his feet and was a commanding presence at the back throughout.

Anthony Ralston 6

Was caught out of position once or twice at the back but made up for it with a goal-saving block to deny Ryan Mmaee moments after Furuhashi’s opening goal.

Cameron Carter-Vickers 7

An assured performance from the on-loan Spurs man. Calm and confident in possession, and read the game well to snuff out a few Ferencvaros attacks before they really got going.

Carl Starfelt 5

A clumsy tackle midway through the first half earned the centre-half the game’s first booking but the Swede settled into the contest from that point onwards. Almost inexplicably gifted Ferencvaros a goal at the end.

Adam Montgomery 6

Looked a little nervy in the first half and was a little suspect defensively throughout the game. Won the penalty that McGregor failed to convert and found himself in the book for a rash challenge on Myrto Uzuni.

Callum McGregor 6

Was his usual metronomic self and a well-timed interception early on earned a roar of approval from the stands. Could have made Celtic’s afternoon a little more comfortable by converting his penalty.

David Turnbull 7

Looked a threat from set-pieces with his inviting deliveries. Added a second – just – after somehow fluffing his lines from a few yards out. Should have added a second five minutes from time.

Tom Rogic 6

Good link-up play with Abada down the right but occasionally sloppy in possession. Worked his socks off but was guilty of lacking any sense of urgency on occasion.

Liel Abada 4

An afternoon to forget for the Israeli. Has racked up an impressive tally of goals and assists since pitching up in Glasgow but final ball was lacking, despite often finding himself in promising areas.

Joao Jota 8

Looked lively on the left wing and was a constant menace. Quick footwork and one-touch passing kept the Ferencvaros defenders guessing and his ability to beat his man one-on-one regularly opened up pockets of space in the final third. Superb assist for Furuhashi and clever ball for Turnbull for the second.

Kyogo Furuhashi 7

Started quietly but grew into the game. Was isolated in first half and had to drop very deep to get on the ball. Took his chance well when it arrived to nudge Celtic ahead.

Substitutes

Nir Bitton (for Rogic, 70) 3

Added some steel to the midfield as Celtic looked to close out the game.

Giorgos Giakoumakis (for Abada, 70) 4

Coud have had his first Celtic goal but failed to connect with Turnbull’s corner.

Liam Scales (for Montgomery, 76) 3

Brought on to tighten things up at the back after Montgomery’s booking.

Mikey Johnston (for Furuhashi, 86) 4

On for last few minutes. Looked lively.
