RANGERS boss Steven Gerrard delivered a no-nonsense response when quizzed over Newcastle speculation yesterday.

The Liverpool legend was asked about the Toon role after Rangers defeated Brondby in the Europa League.

BT Sport presenter Emma Dodds asked Gerrard about the speculation to which he replied: “Do I look happy? Do I look settled? Don’t ask me silly questions then.”

The Rangers boss is priced at 14/1 with Frank Lampard (11/1), Lucien Farve (4/1), Eddie Howe (4/1) and Pablo Fonseca (6/4) also in the running.

Steve Bruce left the role earlier this week and Newcastle's owners are understood to be actively looking for a replacement.

Gerrard was quizzed about the role last week, before Bruce's departure, and he responded: “I don’t really react or get involved in any kind of speculation.

“Especially when there is someone who I have the utmost respect for sitting in that job that the speculation is about.

“For me, I am in a very big job here that I am fully focused on and we have a top-of-the-table clash at the weekend and it is a game I am very much looking forward to."
