RANGERS hero Ally McCoist has revealed how Antonio Conte took great interest in the Ibrox club during a trip to Glasgow for a European tie.

Conte is set to replace Nuno Espirito Santo as Tottenham boss after the former Wolves man was relieved of his duties.

A deal would see Conte, who has been out of work since leaving Inter Milan at the end of last season, return to the Premier League where he guided Chelsea to the title in 2016-17, adding an FA Cup the following season.

The possible appointment excites Gers hero McCoist and he has told of his fond memories of the Italian manager.

On talkSPORT, he said: "When he was manager of Juventus, he came up, he had a tie in Glasgow and he trained at Murray Park, I was manager of Rangers at the time.

"It was fascinating watching him. They had a training session, which I watched, it was great just to watch his Juve boys and how they would go about it.

"He was also incredibly interested in everything, believe it or not, that was going on at our place.

"I thought to myself 'this is a guy who wants to soak up all types of knowledge, he wants to learn', fascinating.

"I am really excited about the appointment, but if you asked me five weeks ago, there was no way that will happen."
