RANGERS have yet to receive an approach from Aston Villa over their pursuit of manager Steven Gerrard.
The Premier League side are looking to replace Dean Smith after sacking the Englishman on Sunday after a run of five straight defeats.
The Daily Mail report that Villa are ready to make a formal approach to Rangers to speak to Gerrard later this week.
The Ibrox boss was instantly installed as the bookies' favourite for the position after the news of Smith's departure.
However, according to the Go Radio Football Show, Rangers have received 'no contact' from Aston Villa about permission to speak with Gerrard.
More to follow.
