RANGERS have reportedly granted Steven Gerrard permission to discuss a move to Aston Villa.
We reported that the Ibrox boss is closing in on a move to the Premier League club, and it's now claimed he's been cleared by Rangers.
The Telegraph report that Rangers have agreed to allow talks between Gerrard and Villa as they look to appoint him as Dean Smith's successor.
The newspaper also claim that a significant chunk of Gerrard's backroom team will make the move with him to Aston Villa.
Gary McAllister and Michael Beale are thought to be in line to follow Gerrard down south.
And backroom staff members Jordan Milsom and Tom Culshaw could also make the switch and be included in a multi-million pound compensation deal.
The Telegraph report claims Villa are prepared to part with £3million to secure Gerrard's services along with his preferred backroom staff.
Villa had identified Gerrard as their top target after Smith was sacked at the weekend and look set to appoint their man.
Herald and Time Sport understands an angreement of Gerrard's move could be reached in the coming days.
