RANGERS are expected to hold talks with key managerial target Giovanni van Bronckhorst this weekend as their search for Steven Gerrard’s successor steps up once again.
The Dutchman has emerged as a prime candidate to become the next Ibrox boss as sporting director Ross Wilson seeks to replace Gerrard following his departure to Aston Villa this week.
Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and Rino Gattuso are also under consideration by the champions, who are eager to make an appointment before the Premier Sports Cup semi-final with Hibernian next weekend.
Van Bronckhorst is expected to hold talks with Rangers over the next 48 hours and remains at the head of the shortlist that has been drawn up by the Ibrox board.
The former Feyenoord boss is seeking to return to management following a spell in China and will hope to move a step closer to a return to Rangers as he holds discussions in London this weekend.
