21 July 2011 – van Bronckhorst accepts his first role as a coach assisting new boss Ronald Koeman at Feyenoord alongside former team-mate Jean-Paul van Gastel just one year after retiring as a player.

3 May 2014 – Ronald Koeman’s final match in charge of Feyenoord ending van Bronckhorst’s three years of learning under the experienced manager in his role as assistant manager. While Koemen left as his contract expired, van Bronckhorst remained loyal to the Dutch side retaining his role in the coaching set-up.

23 March 2015 – After four years as Feyenoord assistant van Bronckhorst is named as new manager for the 2015/16 season. He made the step-up to manager as Fred Rutten left the club.

24 April 2016 – van Bronckhorst tastes his first success as a manager winning the KNVB Cup in his debut season in the main role in the dugout. Feyenoord pipped Utrecht to the trophy with a 2-1 win. The Dutchman led the club to an improved 3rd place league finish with new signing Dirk Kuyt scoring 23 goals.

14 May 2017 – van Bronckhorst leads Feyenoord to a first league title success in 18 years. His side claimed the title by one point over Ajax with 24 wins, four draws and four losses. He found more success with a striker signing with Nicolai Jorgensen scoring 25 times.

22 April 2018 – Feyenoord claim a second KNVB Cup trophy under van Bronckhorst with a 3-0 win over AZ Alkmaar.

24 January 2019 – van Bronckhorst announces that he will leave Feyenoord after four years as boss. Jaap Stam replaces him as manager at the end of the 2018/19 season.

September 9 2019 – Rumours swirl that van Bronckhorst has accepted role with Manchester City and will replace Pep Guardiola when he leaves the club.

4 January 2020 – van Bronckhorst named as boss of Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F but resigns to return to his family after finishing 11th in his first season.
