MIKEL ARTETA has thanked Steven Gerrard and his team for turning around Rangers during his time at the club.
The Arsenal manager sent a message of thanks to Gerrard for his work at his former club after Gerrard sealed a move to Aston Villa.
And former Ibrox star Arteta hailed the turnaround in fortunes at Rangers under Gerrard as he said it came during a "difficult moment".
He told Sky Sports: "As a Rangers fan as well I must say thank you so much to Stevie and the coaching staff for what they did for the club.
"They turned the club around in such a difficult moment and to manage to win the league the way they did it was a big boost.
"Football is like that, people want to move people have other expectations."
And Arteta saved a message of support for Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he takes the reins at Ibrox.
The Dutchman flew into Glasgow this morning and is set to attend this Sunday's Premier Sports Cup semi-final - but from the stands.
Sendign his best to Van Bronckhorst, Arteta added: "Now I just wish the best to Giovanni and the club and see what happens."
