CHRIS SUTTON has taken a cheeky swipe at Rangers after the club crashed out of the Premier Sports Cup to Hibs.
The Ibrox side fell to a 3-1 loss with Scott Arfield grabbing their only goal as a Martin Boyle hat-trick saw them dumped out in the semi-final at Hampden.
It means Rangers' wait for a cup trophy has gone on for more than a decade.
And Celtic hero Sutton was quick to send a jibe at the Ibrox side as he congratulated Jack Ross' Hibs team.
It appears Sutton was also keen to reference Celtic's domestic dominance before last season as he stated "sadly" a treble was off the cards for Rangers.
Taking to Twitter, he posted: "Congratulations to Hibs.
"Comfortable win Treble off once again sadly for Rangers…"
Hibs will now go on to take on Hibs in the Premier Sports Cup final at Hampden next month.
Celtic sealed their spot in the showpiece final after a 1-0 victory over holders St Johnstone yesterday. James Forrest scored the only goal.
The match is set to take place on Sunday, December 19.
