ALFREDO MORELOS last night became the fifth top scorer in Europa League history, after he bagged two goals against Sparta Prague.

The Rangers frontman netted his 29th and 30th European goals as Gio van Bronckhorst's men eased past their Group A rivals.

Morelos joins the likes of ex-Atletico Madrid and current Rayo Vallecano star Radamel Falcao, as well as Aritz Aduriz, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, and Henrik Larsson in the top five charts.

Celtic legend Larsson leads the way on 40 goals, while Huntelaar sits second on 34.

Time is on Morelos' side though and the Colombian will certainly have aspirations of breaking Larsson's record.

The Europa League, which was formally known as the Uefa Cup, goal scoring chart also includes qualifying fixtures.

Van Bronckhorst praised double goalscorer Morelos after his two first-time finishes earned the win over Sparta last night.

“He did really well,” van Bronckhorst said. “We know he’s a striker that can create danger. I wanted him to play more towards the box. Sometimes he goes deep into midfield, but with the wingers we have we should always create chances with crosses and we have to have bodies in the box.”
