Craig Gordon 7

Excellent stop early on to deny Forrest from close range. Could do nothing to deny Furuhashi’s opening goal.

Michael Smith 6

Industrious as ever. Clever positioning and marking kept Jota very quiet.

Craig Halkett 6

Solid in the tackle and composed in possession. A strong showing from the centre-half.

John Souttar 7

Superb last-ditch tackle to deny Rogic a certain goal in the first half. Made a few blocks to deny Celtic’s attackers and did very little wrong.

Stephen Kingsley 5

Worked hard but often found himself outnumbered and bypassed with ease. Should have scored from a free header via a McKay second-half corner.

Peter Haring 7

This was the defensive midfielder’s first start since October but you wouldn’t know it. Provided a good physical presence in front of the defence and was composed on the ball.

Cammy Devlin 5

Gifted possession to Turnbull early on and was lucky not to give away a goal. Grew into the game as it progressed.

Ben Woodburn 4

Won the ball in promising areas but often failed to find his man when shifting it forward quickly.

Barrie McKay 6

Was comfortable carrying the ball forward and his ability to stretch the pitch was vital for Hearts. Could have offered more with his final ball.

Aaron McEneff 5

Never looked comfortable off the ball and didn’t really get going. Covered a lot of ground but didn’t have much to show for it.

Josh Ginnelly 4

Tested Starfelt a few times by driving at the Swede at pace but was largely kept quiet on an evening to forget for the forward.

Substitutes

Liam Boyce (for Woodburn, 55) 5

Brought on to provide a focal point in attack for his side and he did just that.

Gary Mackay-Steven (for McEneff, 66) 3

Added some pace out wide.
