Kris Boyd had 'blue tinted glasses' on for Celtic goal assessment

The former Ibrox striker was adamant that the Japanese star was offside when he stroked home from Anthony Ralston's cross during the first half.

The strike was the only goal of the match, as Ange Postecoglou's racked up another three points in their bid to catch Rangers at the summit of the Premiership.

Robbie Neilson was irate with the officials in the aftermath of the goal, insisting post-match that it should not have stood.

But former Hearts stalwart Christophe Berra says only VAR could possibly have decided whether Kyogo was offside or not. 

And the Raith Rovers defender had a cheeky quip for Boyd who argued against him. 

The pair appeared on Sky Sports for the coverage of the match. They were joined by ex-Celtic star Stiliyan Petrov.

He was first to comment: "Sometimes you have to go with the flow. He scored a great goal, is he off? We don't know, we can only guess."

Boyd then replied: "I am going to do a bit of advertising for Specsavers, you can go there tomorrow and get tested my friend. The referee helped Celtic out again!"

But Berra said: "It is marginal, if it is. We have seen situations in the Premier League when you think it is on and it is off.

"Until the line comes in you can't tell. And there is nothing in it, let's be fair.

"I know I played for Hearts but I have an objective view.

"You can't blame the ref or the lino [linesman] there, the only way you can sort that out is spend the money and getting VAR into Scottish football.

"It is not clear cut, not in a million years. I think Boydy has got his blue sunglasses on."

Boyd replied: "Blue tinted glasses on, don't worry about that.

"I am sure when you leave here tonight and you see it again you will be saying Boydy is right again.

"There is no doubt about it. That is offside, that is offside, there is no doubt about that.

"There is no doubt. We might not have the technology to prove it but that supposed goal is offside, I will tell you right now."
