CELTIC are reportedly set to trigger a clause to buy Jota before the end of the season.

The Portuguese winger is currently on a season-long loan at Celtic with the club holding the option to purchase for in the region of £6.5million.

Jota has been in electric form since his arrival from Benfica in the summer with eight goals and six assists in 18 outings.

And Celtic fans have been desperate for club chiefs to trigger the clause to purchase the winger after he established himself as a fan favourite.

Sky Sports News now claim Jota will be signed by Celtic through to option-to-buy.

A report claims Celtic will trigger the option before the end of the season.

Jota is currently out with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss a "couple of weeks".

Ange Postecoglou has previously been quizzed over signing Jota on permanent terms but insisted there's no rush over making a decision.

“I don’t know if it works that way – if that’s how they (board) do things – if I’d need to tell them to put some money aside,” he said.

“We’ll always make decisions that are in the best interests of the football club and also the player.

“Jota is just starting his career but he’s already fallen in love with the club. He loves the environment here and the supporters. Who wouldn’t? Who wouldn’t want to play for a football club where you get 60,000 cheering you on? The crowd is something special.

“Let’s just let him enjoy it. Those kind of decisions will come in due course.

“From our perspective, I know everyone here is the same, we’ll do what’s best for the football club moving forward and that will be in consultation with the player’s wishes.”
