ALLY MCCOIST admits it was a tough gig on the popularity front as he worked the Premier Sports Cup final between Celtic and Hibs on Sunday.

The Rangers hero was in the TV studio for the cup showdown and he has revealed that he wasn't the most popular choice among supporters.

Coisty appeared on talkSPORT this morning and he was quick to congratulate Celtic supporting cricket hero Brad Hogg on the Hoops lifting the trophy.

He did so in his usual hilarious way, saying: "Last time we spoke, you did inform me that your allegiances in Scottish football leaned towards the Celtic end.

"I offer you my congratulations mate as Celtic won the League Cup.

"I was working at Hampden on Sunday, it was Celtic vs Hibs, there was 50,000 there and I was as popular as Joe Root on Bondi Beach.

"Just to give you an indication of how things were going."

We told how McCoist rocked it out at half-time during Sunday's game as he danced along to Metallica's hit single Enter Sandman.

McCoist's co-presenter Emma Dodds uploaded a video to Twitter showing the Rangers great singing and dancing along to the rock anthem, with the caption : "The half-time entertainment was top notch today, bloody love this guy! #neveradullmoment".

In the clip, McCoist can be seen singing towards the camera as he mimes out the lyrics.
