ANGE POSTECOGLOU has revealed no players were rested for the draw with St Mirren as he stated: 'They can have a rest when they're 45'.

The Celtic boss was forced to leave out Joe Hart and Kyogo through injury with Carl Starfelt suspended for the match in Paisley.

There were suggestions players may have been rested however, Postecoglou was firm in his response to questioning insisting that wasn't the case.

While St Mirren were depleted with a large chunk of the squad wiped out through positive Covid tests, Postecoglou himself contended with selection problems.

Joe Hart and Kyogo were two obvious omissions from the weekend with David Turnbull, Jota, Giorgos Giakoumakis and James Forrest all out.

Albian Ajeti and long-term absentee Christopher Jullien were also missing from the squad.

Responding to a question on Joe Hart being injured, Postecoglou replied: “All of them were unavailable, none of them were rested.

"I don’t know where that came out.

“I don’t rest players, if they want a rest they can have a rest when they’re 45. Everyone who wasn’t playing tonight was unavailable.

“Either suspended or injured so that’s the case."

And Postecoglou said it's unlikely any players will be back in time for the clash with St Johnstone on Boxing Day.

He said: “Not sure. We’ll see, it’s unlikely that anyone will definitely come back into it.

"There’s a couple who might be close but we’ll see over the next couple of days how they’re recover."

Quizzed on the feeling in the dressing room after the draw, he added: “We didn’t win tonight so they’re disappointed as they should be."
