ANGE Postecoglou has confirmed that Georgios Giakoumakis is set to return to action for Celtic soon after recovering from minor knee surgery.

The Greek striker, a £2.5m signing from VVV-Venlo in the summer, has been sidelined since the start of last month.

However, Postecoglou, whose team take on St Johnstone in a cinch Premiership match in Perth at noon today, revealed Giakoumakis is makng good progress.

“Jacko is really close,” he said. “He will probably train with the team in the next session.

“One session will probably not be enough for him to be right for Sunday. However, he is back now to almost being available.

“If we had one more game he would probably be available, but we are now looking to get him back after the break.

“It’s unlikely he’ll make the bench, that would be a stretch. He is finishing off his rehab today and then we have one session on Christmas Day so unlikely.”

Postecoglou added: “I don’t think anyone will be back. There may be one or two who are close, but, at this stage, don’t expect any significant change to the team that was out on Wednesday night.

“Joe Hart was just unavailable (against St Mirren on Wednesday night), injured from the weekend. He will probably miss Sunday as well. We will see how it’s going.”
