THE derby match between Rangers and Celtic's B sides has been postponed, it has been confirmed.

The game has been put on hold for another date next year, in the hope that thousands of fans will be able to attend.

The game was due to be played at Ibrox on Hogmanay to allow both sets of young players the opportunity to play in front of a big crowd and gain that big game experience.

The game will be the first meeting between the Old Firm's B teams since joining the Lowland League this season.

But the players and fans will need to wait a little longer for the opportunity.

It has been agreed that the derby should be postponed until fans can attend.

A Rangers statement reads: "Rangers can confirm that the Old Firm B team game scheduled on 31st December has been postponed.

"Tickets purchased can be retained and used for the revised fixture.

"A new date will be communicated in due course. One of the key objectives and benefits of our involvement in the Lowland League is to expose our young players to playing in front of large crowds during games especially an Old Firm.

"We look forward to rescheduling this game and thank supporters for their understanding."
