KENNY MILLER has named his Scottish Premiership team of the season so far.

And it's fair to say there's some interesting selections among the Falkirk No.2's choices.

Speaking on Go Radio's Football Show, the former Scotland star was asked to reflect on the first section of the season by naming the best performing XI across the division to date.

Included in his choices were two Rangers players, two Hearts players, two Hibs stars and four from Celtic, as well as one from Motherwell.

Unsurprisingly, Craig Gordon was picked as the goalkeeper - with the Hearts stopper undoubtedly the best in Scotland top flight.

On to the back four, and things got interesting.

Anthony Ralston was in a right-back, with John Souttar and Paul Hanlon at the heart of the defence, and Calvin Bassey playing left-back.

Miller commented: "My back four's going to be Ralston, Souttar and Paul Hanlon at left centre-back. He's been outstanding this year, even in the League Cup final against Celtic.

"When you watch him, he's as reliable as they come. His positioning, his understanding, his reading of the game.

"He's done it for 12-15 years now. I did have Charlie Mulgrew as he's had a really good season, Porteous and Carter-Vickers could go in as well.

"At left-back, I know Calvin Bassey's been playing centre-back, but he's a left-back by trade so I'm going to go with him."

With Miller's midfield there were no shocks at all - with each player essentially speaking for themselves.

The three consisted of Callum McGregor, Joe Aribo and Tom Rogic.

He continued: "I've tried to stay away from just the Old Firm but the midfield are three Old Firm players.

"Callum McGregor sitting, with Tom Rogic, who has been absolutely rejuvenated under Ange, and Joe Aribo, who has been Rangers' most consistent player.

"Three unbelievable players. They can all contribute in any area, McGregor is not the typical No.6 but he can play in there and control a game.

"The relationship he would have with both of them, you wouldn't be able to get the ball off them."

On to the front three and again, there were some intriguing picks.

Martin Boyle, Tony Watt and Kyogo got the nod from Miller.

He concluded: "I mentioned Jota but he's on the bench, and I'll tell you why. The front three I've gone for is Martin Boyle, who has been sensational and electric. Kyogo, it's obvious.

"And I'm going to go for Tony Watt based on the fact Jota has played less than half of the league games for Celtic. He's missed a bit of football, and Tony Watt is the league's top scorer playing for Motherwell. Fantastic."

Kenny Miller's team of the season so far: Gordon; Ralston, Souttar, Hanlon, Bassey; Aribo, McGregor, Rogic; Boyle, Kyogo, Watt.
