A RANGERS fan group have taken aim at the Scottish Government regarding their current Covid restrictions on large scale events.

The Union Bears have hoisted a banner outside of Holyrood to voice their displeasure over the current situation in Scotland.

The group have delivered the message: "Stop Control".

In a statement, the supporters have called on the government to lift the 500-fan limitation on clubs up and down the country.

Rangers have been out of action for over two-weeks now, with Premiership sides opting to bring forward the scheduled winter break to coincide with the tough restrictions.

However, the top flight will resume next Monday when Celtic host Hibs at Parkhead.

There has yet to be any form of official communication as to whether the 500 limit will remain in place, or whether capacity crowd sizes can return next week.

And the Union Bears want to see some action - as they accused the government of treating football fans as "scapegoats".

The group's statement reads: "Almost three weeks have passed since the Scottish Government imposed ill-thought-out restrictions of a 500-capacity limitation regardless of the size of stadium.

"Once again, the Scottish Government has rushed into an authoritarian-like decision and are using football fans as scapegoats.

"In additions, the Scottish Government has yet to offer any indication of a roadmap out of these latest restrictions.

"Attending football matches is such an important event for so many, particularly throughout the festive season which is a tradition spanning generations.

"Football serves as respite for many within the country, particularly in a time where there is so much uncertainty in people's livelihoods.

"It is crucial that the Scottish Government provides the required support rather than punishment of capacity limitations. Stop Control."

It's understood that the First Minister will provide an update on the government's Covid measures on Tuesday.
