JASON CUMMINGS looks set to make a fresh start to his career in Australia.

The striker was told last month that he was free to leave Dundee.

The 26-year-old attended Open Goal's live event at the Hydro back on December 16 without the permission of the Dens Park club.

That saw the Premiership outfit fall out with the former Hibs and Rangers about his decision to break club rules.

His release from the Dark Blues has all but been officially announced.

And a change of lifestyle beckons for the hitman, with a switch to Central Coast Mariners appearing to be on the cards.

Wishing his old team-mate well, boss James McPake told the media some details over the move.

He said: “Jason was in today and is booked for a flight on Saturday.

“We wish him all the best, he helped us get promoted and I hope he does well out in Australia.

“I hope he goes there, shows the type of player he can be when things are right and scores goals.

“We all know he’s got that in him, this is a great opportunity for him and a change of environment might be what he needs.

“We couldn’t stand in his way. It was similar to when Graham Dorrans went, because it’s a great way of living down there. Jason has to focus on his football and get that side of it right.

“When he does do that, his scoring record shows what he’s capable of.”
