RANGERS retained their two point advantage over Glasgow City at the top of SWPL 1, but needed the assistance of a debatable penalty decision to get the better of Hibernian at the club's training centre ground.

Hibs opened the scoring after 22 minutes and for the rest of the half Rangers, who had never been behind in any of the previous 12 league games, looked unsettled. Amy Muir delivered a cross into her old team's box, and although Michaela McAlonie was surrounded by four defenders she scored with a low shot which beat Jenna Fife at the near post.

It took referee Chris Gentles' decision after 57 minutes to get Rangers back on level terms. Hibs goalkeeper Emily Mutch couldn't hold a Demi Vance shot and a penalty was awarded when Jane Ross tumbled over her diving body as she tried to retrieve the ball.

Former Hibs player Lizzie Arnot's spot kick and Ross scored what proved to be the winner seven minutes later. The win keeps Rangers two points ahead of Glasgow City, who won 4-0 at Spartans.

Captain Hayley Lauder put City ahead after 12 minutes at Ainslie Park and Lauren Davidson doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after being brought down herself. Second half goals from Kerry Beattie – her second in two games since signing from Glentoran – and Priscila Chinchilla wrapped up the points

Celtic gave a debut to new goalkeeper Anna Vincenti against Partick Thistle and opened the scoring through Olivia Chance after 16 minutes at Petershill Park. Maria Olafsdottir Gros and Chloe Craig both scored twice to made it 5-0 at half-time.

Charlie Wellings and Izzy Atkinson added two more in the second half but Celtic remain five points behind City and seven adrift of Rangers.

Aberdeen had their best win of the season, beating Hearts 4-0 at Oriam to move up to sixth at Spartans' expense. In the day's other game, Motherwell won the Lanarkshire derby, beating bottom club Hamilton 2-1 at New Douglas Park.
