ANGE Postecoglou has hailed Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate for his wonder goal against Hearts – and predicted his new signing is only going to get better.

Hatate broke the deadlock in the cinch Premiership game at Tynecastle last night when he made a break from midfield and fired an unstoppable shot beyond Craig Gordon from 25 yards out.

The ex-Kawasaki Frontale player only arrived in this country at the start of the month and made his debut for the Parkhead club in the league meeting with Hibs last week.

Postecoglou is confident the 24-year-old will contribute more as he gains match fitness and sharpness and becomes more familiar with his surroundings and his new team mates.

The Greek-Australian coach was also pleased with how Matt O’Riley, the English midfielder who joined from MK Dons in a £1.5m deal last week, fared on his Celtic debut against Hearts and thinks the long-term future of the Glasgow club is bright.

“Reo has played 70 minutes of football in the last month,” he said. “He’s got more you know. He’s just beginning. It’s not easy. He set a pretty high bar after the first game, but he’s a very determined young man to reach the top.

“Matty was greatand he has only trained with us two or three days. It’s pleasing for me because we have brought in a few guys in their early 20s who are ambitious.

“Whatever they do, they can improve and they will get better and that gives us a really good nucleus not just for this year but going forward.”
