GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST is pleased Rangers have been able to replace Nathan Patterson at Ibrox after clinching a deal for Polish stopper Mateusz Zukowski.
The Ibrox boss had been on the lookout for a right-back since Patterson secured his record-breaking move to Everton earlier this month.
Zukowski will now challenge James Tavernier for a starting spot this term as he looks to play his part in the champions' Premiership title defence and bid for the Scottish Cup.
And Van Bronckhorst is confident the 20-year-old will benefit from his time working under the Light Blues' captain.
Van Bronckhorst said: "I am really pleased that we have been able to add Mateusz to our squad.
“We knew when Nathan left at the start of the month that we would need cover in the right full-back area, and it is great we have been able to find someone of Mateusz’ quality.
“He will be able to learn so much from our captain and I hope to see him develop further as a player here at Rangers.”
Zukowski made his debut for Lechia Gdansk four years ago and was part of the side that lifted the Polish Cup in 2019.
He has represented his country at Under-21 level in recent times and will now continue his career at Ibrox after agreeing a three-and-a-half year deal.
