GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST pinpointed plenty of positives as Rangers eased into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals with victory over Annan.

The champions produced a professional performance at Galabank as goals from Filip Helander, Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala won the game in a dominant first half.

Rangers can now turn their attentions to the Europa League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night as the champions return to continental competition.

And Van Bronckhorst was encouraged by a straightforward win at Annan as he was able to utilise his squad and give several players some much-needed game time.

Van Bronckhorst told RangersTV: "I think we done our jobs. We wanted to go into the next round.

"Of course, playing against Annan we should go into the next round and we didn’t want to get surprised in the beginning. I think we started off really well and decided the game in the first half with three goals.

"Overall it was really good. We are through to the next round and I was able to give players minutes who needed it, players who didn’t play a lot and especially the players who came back from injury.

"Filip, after many months off, he could play his first minutes and he scored a goal as well so I am really pleased for him. Aaron Ramsey could play an hour, Steven Davis also an hour.

"Really pleased also with the debut of Charlie McCann and also the debut for Mateusz (Zukowski), who did really well as well. Overall it has been a positive day.

"It is very important [to get the early goal]. The longer you don’t score the more confidence the opponent gets. We started off really well and Filip almost scored before that.

"Really pleased with him and the start because that takes the energy away from the opponent. We have done our job."
