QUEEN of the South have confirmed their management team until the end of the season.

The Doonhamers will be led by Wullie Gibson and Grant Murray in the remaining Championship fixtures.

The duo were in temporary charge of the basement club on Saturday, as they took a point at home against league leaders Arbroath.

Allan Johnston was dismissed from his position the week prior, after a late defeat against fellow relegation rivals Morton.

Queens are three-points adrift of Dunfermline who sit in the relegation play-off spot currently.

But experienced player Gibson and coach Murray will take the reins are they try to guide QOTS to safety.

Gibson, who is also club captain, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to take charge of the side. It was a hectic week preparing for the game on Saturday but now that things have been finalised and it’s starting to sink in, I am delighted and honoured to be given the position.

"When I spoke to the Chairman and expressed an interest I knew I still wanted to play so the option was to bring someone in and that is Grant. He is someone I know well having been teammates at Kilmarnock. He is someone I trust and together we are looking forward to the challenge.

"We know how big a task it is going to be but the signs on Saturday were encouraging and we will work as hard as possible to keep us in the Championship”.

Murray added: “I am over the moon to be back involved and I’m looking forward to working with Wullie. I came in on Friday but the only thing that mattered then was the game on Saturday.

"I told Wullie we would speak about things going forward after that and I’m pleased to have officially joined the club. And I look forward to being part of a management team that can hopefully go from strength to strength to help the team both on and off the park"
