GRAHAM ALEXANDER hopes to force Rangers into a different way of playing when his Motherwell side travel to Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.

The Premiership champions hammered their opponents 6-1 at Fir Park on the last occasion the two teams met but the 'Well boss takes confidence from previous meetings that have been far more competitive.

The Steelmen are without a league win since a 2-1 triumph over Livingston on Boxing Day and althogh Alexander is fully aware of the task that awaits his players, he insists he and his coaching staff have a plan and will be targeting three points in Govan.

"The challenge is a tough one," Alexander admitted. "If you take the last game out of it, when we’ve played Rangers recently we’ve done really well but we had to work exceptionally hard.

"We had to nullify their qualities and make them play in a way they didn’t want to and I think Sunday will be a similar game plan from us.

"We have to try and make them play in a way they’re not comfortable with and bring our A-game – both in and out of possession.

"It’s important not just to defend; we have to have an attacking threat, which we always try to carry, and we have to look within ourselves as a team and see that we can score goals.

"It’s about getting the balance right when you come up against any opponent but there is never a game where we don’t have a thought process about how to win it, and Sunday will be no different."
