MMA superstar Conor McGregor has claimed that he is interested in purchasing Celtic from majoirty shareholder Dermot Desmond.

The Irish fighter has been linked with a takeover of Chelsea after Russian owner Roman Abramovich decided to sell the London club in the wake of the outbreak of the Ukrainian conflict.

Sharing a news article that asked if McGregor was really interested in buying Chelsea, the 33-year-old insisted that he is serious about one day owning a football club.

And he has his eye on Chelsea, Manchester United or Celtic.

McGregor wrote on Twitter: "I do not speak in jest. I am exploring this, as I said.

"Celtic from Dermot Desmond, Manchester United from the Glaziers, and now the recently up for sale Chelsea football club.

"All being explored. A football franchise purchase is in my future make no mistake about it."
