SCOTLAND's World Cup play-off match with Ukraine has officially been postponed.

The teams were due to lock horns in the semi-final match at Hampden on March 24.

However, given the current situation in Ukraine, the game has been postponed until June by the FIFA Organising Committee.

The Scottish FA say they support the decision, as they reiterated their message of solidarity to the Ukrainian Association of Football.

UEFA will now amend the fixture schedule, including any displaced UEFA Nations League fixtures.

With Scotland's World Cup play-off games now put back, the SFA are seeking to organise a replacement fixture on March 24.

Wales vs Austria will go ahead as intended on that date, with the winners of that tie eventually playing either Scotland or Ukraine for a spot in the World Cup.

But the SFA have also confirmed that the losers of Wales vs Austria will play Scotland in a friendly on March 29.

Ian Maxwell, Scottish FA Chief Executive: “In light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, it is the correct decision by FIFA to postpone our play-off, as requested by the Ukrainian Association of Football.

“The importance and significance of football is greatly diminished in a time of war and our thoughts are with those Ukrainian civilians affected by the conflict.”
