CELTIC kid Ben Doak is reportedly ready to sign a long-term contract with Liverpool.

The 16-year-old is set to make the move to the Premier League giants rather than staying put at Parkhead.

The Scottish Sun claim Doak is close to finalising a deal to take him to Anfield - a move which will see Liverpool pay a six-figure compensation fee.

Doak has impressed in cameo appearances for the Celtic first-team this season as well as for the Scotland under-17 side.

Ange Postecoglou handed Doak his debut in the win over Dundee United in January before bringing him on in the closing moments against Rangers days later.

The report claims Celtic have now accepted Doak will make the move to Liverpool.

Postecoglou has previously ruled out convincing players to sign at Celtic if they want to be elsewhere.

He said: “I've said all along my role is to look after the footballers that want to be here. The footballers that don't want to be here? There's another avenue there for them.

"When you look at the starting line-up against Dundee United there were a few boys who started out as ball boys for our club.

“You can't tell me they haven't had careers - they've represented their country, they've won trophies.

"There are a couple down south who started here too. People may think going down south is a reward or some guarantee of success.

“Life - and football in general - shows you there are many avenues towards that goal. I think you're in a great place here if that's what your end game is."
