BARRY FERGUSON has joked that Celtic star Kyogo's best position would be in the stands at Hampden on Sunday.

The 27-year-old missed the Old Firm derby two weeks ago when the Hoops put the Ibrox side to the sword to extend their lead at the summit of the Premiership to six points.

However, the Japanese forward returned to the Ange Postecoglou's squad in their 7-0 drubbing of St Johnstone last Saturday, as he appeared off the bench,

Postecoglou admits Kyogo will play part of Sunday's derby in the Scottish Cup semi-final, with Giorgos Giakoumakis out injured.

Ferguson is a huge admirer of the striker - and if he plays he admits Rangers are in for a big challenge to deal with the dynamic forward.

He told Go Radio's Football Show: "In terms of a Rangers point of view, it is a worry, I think he is a top player, he causes teams so many problems.

"Not just with the quality he has got on the ball, it's off the ball, his movement is exceptional.

"It looks to me the way Postecoglou is talking that he'll be in from the start and that's one player Rangers need to keep an eye because he is a real danger."

He jokingly added: "I'd prefer if he wasn't in the 18.

"I rate him so highly, I didn't know anything about him, probably like many people, he has impressed me so much.

"The first half of the season, just his goal scoring, he does the dirty side brilliantly, his movement inside the box is exceptional as well.

"His tracking back, there were times he was running past the midfielders to try and win the ball back, in terms of what Maeda does, brilliant work ethic.

"It's a concern, but you know you are going to be coming up against quality, Celtic have got quality players, confidence is sky high.

"He is one player if he starts, you need to keep an eye on him."
