KENNY MILLER admits he is determined to show the Falkirk board that he should be given the chance to lead the team out of League One.

The former Scotland, Rangers and Celtic striker got off to a winning start as boss on Saturday’s with a 3-1 win at East Fife.

The 42-year-old will also oversee the remaining two games of the season after it was announced last week that manager Martin Rennie, who is still at the club, would return to the USA this summer.

Miller previously had an eight-week spell in the Livingston dugout and would love to be given the reins at the Bairns, who cannot reach the play-offs this term, on a permanent basis.

Miller said: “It is something that Martin has discussed with me over the last couple of weeks and there is a reason I agreed to come in and help.

“I believe there is so much potential at this football club, it’s in a position it shouldn’t be and I feel I could help build the club back to where it belongs.

“It’s an opportunity to show the people that matter that I am capable of doing that, obviously Martin will still be here to help out and will be about to be a sounding board.

“It’s a good opportunity and it’s one that I’m thriving on, it’s an opportunity to take over.”

Miller was delighted with the response from the players as they brought a three-game losing run to an end in Methil.

He added: “It’s always nice to win games of football, we scored three good goals, it was good to end that losing run.

“I’ve loved it, I had a busy week. It’s a good chance to put a stamp on the team, not a lot will change. It’s about keeping the boys fresh and enjoying their daily work.”
