CELTIC will have the champagne on ice ahead of Wednesday evening's trip to Tannadice with Ange Postecoglou's side on the brink of sealing the Premiership title.

The Glasgow club's six-point lead over Rangers in the table - and far superior goal difference - means the trophy's destination is a foregone conclusion but supporters will be keen to see the team mathematically confirm the championship by avoiding defeat against Dundee United.

Here are the top Celtic stories for Tuesday 10 May.

Postecoglou hails fans for warm welcome

Ange Postecoglou believes that passionate football fans are one of the biggest strengths the Scottish game has to offer as the Celtic manager praised his club's supporters for the faith they have shown in him.

The Greek-Australian took the reins of the Parkhead club last summer and the former Yokohama F. Marinos manager had a rebuild on his hands.

The 56-year-old wasted no time in stamping his authority on the squad as players came and went, and quickly drilled the team in a new tactical style.

Postecoglou makes Helicopter Sunday quip

Ange Postecoglou has fired a cheeky Helicopter Sunday quip to Rangers as Celtic close in on the Scottish Premiership title.

The Parkhead outfit are in action tomorrow against Dundee United and just a draw will be enough to secure the Premiership crown.

Postecoglou was new to the Scottish game this season but he's quickly adjusted to life in Glasgow after a horror campaign for the Hoops last term.

And it seems the Aussie has been made aware of how quickly the title can shift hands as he made reference to Rangers' historic Helicopter Sunday win back in 2005.

Celtic learn Champions League ruling impact

UEFA have announced they will scrap their coefficient plan and from 2024 will award two Champions League places to countries whose clubs collectively performed best in Europe the previous campaign.

An agreement has been reached in Vienna between UEFA and the European Club Association on access to the new-look competition.

The proposal to award two places in the new 36-team league phase based on individual clubs’ European performances over five years has been scrapped, with critics arguing it created a safety net for failing big clubs and a Super League by default.
