Celtic 'overachieved' according to study

IN beating Rangers to the Premiership title, research shows that Celtic overachieved this season.

Ange Postecoglou's side, who were predicted to finish second, overachieved by winning the league according to a study by OLBG that compared where pre-season odds predicted each team would finish compared to their actual final position.

Ross County were predicted to finish rock bottom of the SPFL at the start of the season but defied all odds and finished six places higher, marking them as the biggest overachievers in the division.

County finished six places higher than the 12th placed finish they were predicted, while Dundee United also impressed by finishing four places higher than their pre-season expectation of eighth by finishing fourth

Meanwhile, Aberdeen fell well short of expectations, finishing 10th - seven places below their predicted third-place finish and are the Premiership’s biggest underachievers.
