RANGERS star Calvin Bassey is on Aston Villa's transfer radar, according to a report.
The Light Blues defender has been a vital cog in the machine for the Ibrox side under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Nigerian international put in a man of the match performance in the Europa League final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night.
And his dominant showing is believed to have Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.
According to the Daily Record, Steven Gerrard wants to win the race to sign Bassey.
Gerrard brought Bassey to Glasgow, having signed the youngster from Leicester City two years ago.
Now, the Villa boss wants to reunite with the emerging talent, who appears to be improving with every passing game.
The report states that the Villa Park side will have scouts at Hampden to watch Bassey in the Scottish Cup final against Hearts this afternoon.
Fulham, Wolves and Brentford are also said to be keen on the defender, who can play centre-back or left-back.
Rangers will be in no rush to sell one of their prime assets though, with Bassey under contract until 2024.
