AARON RAMSEY received a Hampden ovation from Rangers fans as the apologetic midfielder gestured to the support.

The Wales international endured a nightmare in the Europa League final as he stepped off the bench in extra-time before missing in the shoot-out.

It was an agonising miss for the on-loan Juventus man who saw his spot-kick saved by Kevin Trapp as Eintracht Frankfurt won the final in Seville.

Ramsey was understandably emotional after the missed penalty which sealed the Europa League final.

But at Hampden - during the Scottish Cup final - he was shown support by the Rangers fans inside the national stadium.

First, a loud cheer went up as his name was called among the subs over the PA system.

Then, as the match went on, he received a warm round of applause from the Rangers support as he went to warm-up.

Ramsey appeared to gesture apologetically to the Ibrox faithful as he raised both palms to the supporters.

But fans continued to support the creative midfielder with applause after the heartbreaking midweek Europa League final loss.
