CHRIS SUTTON praised Rangers for their Scottish Cup triumph over Hearts - only to insist they've still finished the season in the shadow of rivals Celtic.

The Parkhead favourite offered some praise to the Ibrox club after lifting the Scottish Cup at Hampden this afternoon but quickly aimed a dig at Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side.

Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership, made an incredible European run to the Europa League final, and claimed the Scottish Cup trophy.

But Sutton claims they finished "in Celtic's shadow once again..." with Celtic winning a league and cup double.

Ange Postecoglou's men won the Premier Sports Cup back in December before sealing the Scottish Premiership title earlier this month.

However, Sutton di hail the "guts and character" shown by the Rangers squad to lift the Scottish Cup after the agonising defeat in Seville on Wednesday.

Sutton wrote on Twitter: "Good win for Rangers.

"The players showed plenty of guts and character after Wednesday night but they’ve finished the season in Celtic’s shadow once again…"
