PEDRO CAIXINHA has confirmed he's keen on a a reunion with Josh Windass as he plots a transfer move.

The former Ibrox boss - now at Argentine club Talleres de Cordoba - has revealed he keeps in touch with the forward and wants to sign him.

It was first reported last week that Caixinha was targeting a move for Windass who is currently under contract for another year at Sheffield Wednesday.

But Caixinha appears desperate to find a transfer deal to bring his former player to South America this summer.

As reported by the Sheffield Star, Caixinha said: “Yes it’s true I want him.

“I got to work with Josh Windass at Rangers in Scotland and I keep in touch with him.

"He's a quality player.”

It comes after club president Andres Fassi told an Argentine radio station that Talleres are in talks with Windass.

He said: “We are in talks with an English player, who Pedro already had in Europe as a player, wants to come and live the experience of Argentine soccer.

“It is part of the negotiations that we will do in Buenos Aires.

"The footballer is Josh Windass.”

Sheffield Wednesday kicked out bids for Windass last summer, but Windass could move on if a suitable deal is reached going by owner Dejphon Chansiri recent comments.

Discussing transfer strategy, he said: "If we get offers for players that we can't refuse and we believe we can replace them, then we will make a decision."
