Former St Johnstone hero Jim Weir is thrilled to be back in management after being appointed assistant at Elgin City.
The move reunites him with his former number two, Gavin Price, who took over at Elgin when Weir left Borough Briggs for Forfar Athletic in 2017.
The 52-year-old has been out of senior football since leaving Forfar in 2019 after being involved in a car crash on his way home from training.
The ex-Hearts and Hamilton Accies defender helped Price temporarily at the end of the season but has now joined the black and Whites on a permanent basis after Steven Mackay stepped down due to work commitments.
Weir said: “I’m delighted to be coming back on a permanent basis to assist Gavin. I really enjoyed being involved at the end of last season working with the players.
“The chairman, the board, staff and players have always been brilliant to work with also.
“Gavin and myself are great friends and I thank him for the opportunity to help build a successful and exciting team challenging for promotion in the upcoming season.”
