THIS is the moment Celtic star Giorgos Giakoumakis enjoyed a warm embrace with his grandfather in his Greek homeland.

The big striker was recently awarded by his village's cultural association for his achievements in football to date.

Footage shared online this morning shows the Hoops hitman receive his award.

He was presented with it by his proud grandfather - also called Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Freelance journalist Panos Kostopoulos posted a video on Twitter to show the emotional scenes between the pair.

A large crowd gathered in the village, believed to be on the island of Crete, to witness the touching presentation.

Kostopoulos tweeted: "Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis was awarded by his village's cultural association for his sports career so far.

"The award was handed to him by his proud grandpa, Giorgos Giakoumakis, and this probably the cutest video you'll see today."

Giakoumakis finished the Premiership's top goalscorer last term after a storming second-half of the campaign.

He will return to Lennoxtown next week for pre-season training, along with the rest of his teammates.
