STEPHEN ROBINSON has provided a transfer update on St Mirren youngster Dylan Reid.

Celtic have had a bid of £125,000 for young midfielder accepted by the Saints, but Rangers are also interested in the Scotland under-17 captain and may match the bid from their city rivals, leaving the decision in the player’s hands.

Robinson is also hopeful that Reid will sign a new deal at St Mirren, insisting that Paisley is the perfect location for career development.

Speaking to Sky Sports today, he said: “We are a club who have to develop players and we have to sell players.

“We believe Dylan is a highly rated young talent who we can develop here.

“We are a club that produces players, it is an academy system that produces players.

“There is no fewer than six young kids training with us at the moment.

“For me it is a very good club for players to develop.

“Dylan and his advisers and family have decisions to make but I don’t think he has to look too much further than here to develop.

“There has been a lot of talks, as there always is.

“You can’t control that. He is a talented boy as are a lot of our young players and talented players get recognition and attention.

“Some of it is true, some of it isn’t.”
