JON DAHL TOMASSON has backed Antonio Colak to hit the goal trail this term as he seeks to fire Rangers to success at home and abroad.

The new Blackburn Rovers boss had Colak to thank 12 months ago as he scored twice to send Malmo on their way to victory over Steven Gerrard's side at Ibrox.

Malmo would go on to reach the Champions League group stages as Tomasson's side punched above their weight on the continent.

Colak is now aiming to repeat that achievement with Rangers this time out and his former coach is sure Rangers will see the best of him following his £1.8million move from PAOK.

Tomasson said: “He’s an excellent player and he made it tough for Rangers last season by scoring those two goals at Ibrox.

"Colak is a great person and excellent for the dressing room as well, always giving maximum effort.

“I think he will score goals for Rangers. He is a great team player and I like team players. He has a great attitude but it all depends on the manager.

“I know Giovanni van Bronckhorst very well and he’s clever enough to make the right choices.”
