GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST is still sweating on the fitness of a handful of key Ibrox stars as Rangers prepare for their final week of pre-season action.

The Light Blues were 2-1 winners over Blackpool on Saturday as goals from Borna Barisic and Charlie McCann saw them ease to a deserved win thanks to an improved second half showing.

Van Bronckhorst was without the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Filip Helander for the trip to Bloomfield Road as they continue on the road to recovery this summer.

Fashion Sakala and Alex Lowry also missed out against the Seasiders and Rangers will now turn their attentions to the visits of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days.

Van Bronckhorst said: “For some players it was their first game of pre-season and I was really happy nearly everyone could feature and get minutes.

“We prepare now for a big week because we are playing two really good quality opponents. After that we prepare for the start of the season.

“Morelos is doing partial training with the team now, Filip is still not training with us he had a setback so we have to wait and see how that is developing.

“Fashion got a knock in training on Thursday. He trained Friday but wasn’t feeling 100 per cent so we decided not to take him. Alex is still in recovery.”
