RANGERS Football Club has been honoured with a Civic Reception to mark their 150th anniversary and celebrate their "unrecognised" charity work.

The club received the reception from Glasgow's Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren at the City Chambers last night in recognition of their contribution to the city for the past 150 years.

Politicians, public figures, and guests from Rangers' history both past and present attended the event, including manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and former footballer John Greig.

Rangers bosses wrote on Twitter: "Tonight, RangersFC will be honoured with a Civic Reception from @LordProvostGCC at the City Chambers in recognition of the club’s contribution to the city over the last 150 years.

"Guests from Rangers’ history both past and present, as well as politicians and figures from public life gathered for another significant milestone in the club’s 150th year."

Following the reception, Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren said she was "delighted" to host the club.

She tweeted: "Delighted to host @RangersFC at the City Chambers to mark the 150th anniversary of the Club.

"Great pleasure to see so many famous figures and take the opportunity to pay tribute to their often unrecognised work for charity."

River City actor Stephen Purdon also shared a picture from the event alongside co-star Jordon Young, Scot Squad star Grado and Rangers' manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
