Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sign former Celtic keeper Jude Smith from East Fife after he enjoyed a successful trial period on Tyneside.
The English Premier League giants will pay the Scottish League Two side a five-figure fee to land the 19-year-old, according to the Daily Record.
Smith, who was released by Celtic last year, has caught the eye of the Magpie’s after becoming one of the youngest No.1s in British senior football at Bayview, and is set join up initially with the club’s under-20 and 23 squads.
The shot-stopper looks set to be the second teenager from north of the border to move to Newcastle this summer, following highly-rated defender Charlie McArthur who joined the club from Kilmarnock.
Smith made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Fifers but could not prevent them from suffering relegation to Scottish League Two.
He will now travel to the North East of England to complete what has been described as a “dream move”.
