KRIS BOYD has hailed Scott Brown and wished him all the best in his new venture as Fleetwood manager.

The Celtic hero retired as a player over the summer and is now heading into management for the first time with the English League One side.

Despite Boyd and Brown locking horns on the pitch a number of times, the former Ibrox striker has nothing but respect for the former Parkhead skipper.

But he could not resist a cheeky dig at the 37-year-old’s new hairstyle.

He told Sky Sports: “I only have good words to say about Scott Brown.

“I played with him at Scotland and I know him well.

“The big thing for me as well, when he was at Celtic, I run a charity, he would help me out whenever I needed stuff signed.

“Whatever people think of Scott Brown, he is the total opposite.

“It is nice to see he has grown his hair back as well because he did look a little bit like a thug with the skinhead!

“He is probably now getting to enjoy his life for the first time in years. The goldfish bowl in Glasgow, Scott stayed in Edinburgh.

“People are constantly looking at you and wanting to speak to you. I think being away from it he will get to learn about himself as a person.

“He has a difficult job at Fleetwood but I think he will do well. He has worked under good managers.

“He is a student of the game but I wish him all the best because he is one of the good guys.”
